Meet Pierre Lionel Matte
Meet Pierre Lionel Matte Visual artist in Velferden's programme WASTE / DEPOSIT.
Pierre has been working with us in September and October 2023. During this period, he worked on an audiovisual project based on the sand dump at Sandbekk and the last hanging cable in the area. He himself writes about his stay:
"By spending several hours every day in the old Sandbekk mining area, climbing the steep sandy slopes and walking through the rows of geometrically planted trees, I have seen how the almost heroic efforts of previous generations have also created a number of new problems. In response to this physical experience, I have started a video and sound project that will attempt to express this duality."
We're very much looking forward to seeing how his work based on the connections here in Sokndal continues to develop in the time to come.
