Adelina Allberg

Adelina Allberg (b. 1999, Sweden) works with the collection of residual materials, whose properties are transformed and explored through recontextualization. She is interested in how industry seeps into ecology, and vice versa, and how this can be represented through material storytelling. She holds a bachelor's degree from the Trondheim Academy of Fine Arts (2024), lives and works in the countryside of Småland, and has participated in several exhibitions in Sweden and Norway.

Adelina describes her project at Velferden in March 2025 like this:

“During my stay, I have examined material remains from the industrial landscape that surrounds Velferden, with a particular focus on the old Sandbekk sand dump. I have collected wires from there and reflected on the orbit they have embodied – as transporters of the mine’s residual waste – and how the dump has subsequently become a breeding ground for new vegetation, albeit planted. I see this as an example of how ecosystems are built on changeability, how they can respond to human intervention and take shape as a landscape where both natural and synthetic elements interact – albeit in a somewhat disturbing way.

I have installed the wires, slightly deconstructed, together with flowers made of rubber and sand, also from the landfill, under the title Most Gardens Are Set Apart .”
