Anna Krook-Riekkola
Anna Krook-Riekkola is a researcher and assistant professor at Luleå University of Technology (LTU), with a research focus on the energy transition and how Sweden can reach its climate goals in a sustainable way. With the help of models, Anna and her colleagues find different paths for how the climate goals can be reached. The scenarios differ from each other in terms of what behavioral changes are needed, the degree of utilization of natural resources and how much of the transition should take place in Sweden.
Anna was on a production residency with us in October 2023. During this period, she wrote a book that will frame four science-fiction stories from a future northern Sweden where an energy transition has taken place. The book is a collaboration between science and art, where different future scenarios are conveyed through science fiction. She herself writes about her stay:
"Being at Velferden meant for me to go into my own thoughts by being far from my usual place, to get new valuable impressions by meeting artists and other interesting people, and to find peace through the magical nature. Thank you so much for letting me be part of Velferden, an important stage where different perspectives can meet and create new understanding."
