Hanna A. Lokøy

Hanna A. Lokøy (b. 2001, Stavanger) is a dancer and choreographer and lives in Copenhagen, where she recently graduated from the Danish School of Performing Arts.

Hanna describes her production stay at Velferden in March 2025 like this:

"During my stay at Velferden I have had the opportunity to develop the textual, dramaturgical and choreographic potential of my project “Tearing up as we move through” (working title). The project addresses the moment before an “overwhelming” by analyzing each individual hiccup, sigh and sob. It examines both personal and political aspects of allowing oneself, or being forced into, the upheaval of emotions, while also addressing the memories, associations and expectations we bring to bear on “the weeping woman”. The project emphasizes the experience of tearing up and refers to the physical experience of holding back great emotions. From Velferden I bring with me a wealth of inspiration and concrete ideas for how the project can be developed and presented in different formats and situations."
